China planea utilizar su programa de exploración lunar para investigar si es factible usar la tecnología de impresión en 3D para construir edificios en la superficie del satélite, recogen hoy medios locales.
La sonda Chang’e-8, cuya fecha de lanzamiento aún no ha sido precisada, tendrá como misión investigar el entorno y la composición mineral de la Luna, así como comprobar si la impresión en 3D puede ser utilizada en esas superficies, afirmó el científico de la Administración Espacial de China Wu Weiren, citado por el diario ‘China Daily’.
«Si queremos estar presentes en la Luna a largo plazo, necesitamos instalar estaciones empleando materiales lunares», sostuvo el experto. Por el momento, varias universidades chinas como las de Tongji y Jiatong han comenzado a estudiar posibles aplicaciones de la tecnología de impresión en 3D en el satélite terrestre.
Tercera sonda del proyecto
La Chang’e-8 será la tercera sonda que alunice dentro de la próxima fase del programa chino de exploración lunar, ya que antes deberán ser lanzadas la Chang’e-6 y la Chang’e-7. El programa Chang’e (bautizado así en honor a una diosa que según las leyendas chinas vive en la Luna) comenzó con el lanzamiento de una primera sonda en 2007.
